Entrenamiento en los aspectos de inglés mas problematicos, verbos, colocación de preposiciones; verb phrases; acento, pronunciación y con los aspectos de gramatica integrados. Conversacion dirigida al aspecto de fluencia y mucha practica con ejercicios audiovisuales.
Training in the most problematic aspects of English; verbs, the positioning of prepositions, accents, phrasal verbs, intonation and linkage, with the aspects of grammar integrated. Lots of conversation practice.
I have learned over the years that often students at whatever level are not actually hearing English as spoken. I try to focus on this aspect of teaching first and foremost, and in great detail, while at the same time keeping the class entertaining and engaging. With this in mind, I like to use a lot of AV and limit textual material as much as possible.

Hello, my name is Terry Hooper, I am a Canadian citizen by birth and a naturalized 'Tico' I live in Costa Rica, speak fluent Spanish and have over 15 years of teaching and administration experience in English instruction, including the designing of curricula, methodology and English specific to business. I consider teaching to be both a pleasure and an honour, and encourage my students to have fun with the language. I like to focus on listening/speaking above all, in the knowledge that grammar will be more easily assimilated once the sounds and rhythms of English are understood.
BA English literature United College Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada graduated 1969.
CERTESL certificate University of Saskatchewan graduated 1998.
I have taught ESL in Vancouver during the course of my education, as an academic director and administrator, I have taught teachers current ESL/EFL methodology, as well as methodology that I myself have developed here in Costa Rica. I have also taught in the Costa Rican public school system to students in grades 7-9. I designed the curriculum in the subjects of English composition and grammar as well as world geography for a bilingual school in Santa Ana.
