Hello,
I’m Margarethe and I just moved together with my family from Germany (Jena) to Montreal in February 2019. I’m a professional German and ESL teacher and I have a lot of experience in teaching kids and adults on all kinds of levels. I’ve been teaching native speakers as well as total beginners.
Teaching means to me creating an inspiring space to learn not only about vocabularies and grammar but about the culture. Most of all I try to help my students establishing confidence in speaking the language by using all kinds of activities and games.
Right now I’m starting to learn French so I really know what it is like to learn a new language and how frustrating this can be.
Personally, I am very interested in music, theatre, ballet and literature, while I also really like to talk about political issues.
I got a state exam from the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena in 2016, which is like a master in German and English education. I did a teachers training for 1,5 years on a German High school and got a second state exam at the end of it.
I’ve been teaching German and English (ESL) in an international school in Germany, as well as in a German high school (age of students: 11 - 19 years). I did some tutoring for German and ESL when I went to university and there I was mostly teaching kids but also a few adults.
In April 2019 I started teaching adults in a language school. Furthermore, I’m teaching at the German Saturday school and I got private students.
