Ελληνικά Για Αρχάριους Α1-Α2

(Greek for Beginners A1-A2)

Course description:

Το ελληνικό Αλφάβητο
Είδη χαιρετισμού
Συστάσεις (προσωπικές και διαπροσωπικές)
Καθημερινές συναλλαγές- διαμονή, μεταφορές, ψώνια, εστιατόριο κλπ

The Greek alphabet
Greetings
Introducing yourself and others
Daily encounters - accommodation, transport, buying a ticket, shopping, ordering food and drinks

Teaching approach:

I use drama-based techniques such as analyzing poems or songs. In this way, students understand the meanings and peculiarities of the language in greater depth. Additionally, parsing words into their etymology is a method I enjoy using. Especially the Greek language through language loans and anti-loans is largely connected with several foreign languages. This is something that in my experience, my students find highly interesting and exciting.

Course program:

read the Greek alphabet
read and write basic sentences in Greek
extend your Greek vocabulary to enable communication of basic requests and responses
exchange basic greetings in Greek, introduce yourself and others, ask and respond to questions about personal details such as name, nationality, family, work and pastimes
describe family members and use appropriate phrases at social occasions
ask for and give directions using a map of a Greek city or town
use numbers in a variety of situations, shopping, and concepts of time
order items in Greek from a Greek Taverna menu
communicate in Greek when buying various items from a variety of stores using Euro currency, such as tickets, food or other items
express your likes and dislikes using adjectives
discuss elements of the Greek language and culture (eg learning appropriate phrases for social occasions)
identify grammatical concepts in the Greek language including nouns (declension), verbs (conjugation – present tense), adjectives, articles and pronouns (personal and possessive).

About the teacher

Hello! Which in Greek means... Be healthy!

My name is Christina, I come from Cyprus and I have studied Greek Philology at the University of Athens and Acting at the Drama School of the National Theater of Greece. I am here with great enthusiasm to teach you my native language, of which I am very proud: Greek ! Greek is not just my mother tongue, but my passion.

I have been teaching Greek and Acting since 2012 both in Private Secondary Schools and in Educational Programs of the Ministry of Education in Cyprus.

I know that Greek is not the most popular language among European Languages.

And yet the European languages have the root of many of their words in the Greek language. You will be surprised when you discover how many words you use every day in your vocabulary have their etymology in the Greek language!

I am here to make this magical and exciting trip to the Greek language... Through Greek mythology, poetry, music, philosophy we will learn Greek in a fun way!
