Hello! Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you could read the works of Plato, Aristotle, Thucydides and so many other great writers without resorting to translation? If you belong to the group of people who like to read from the original, then these lessons are more than useful for you.
The teaching process of learning ancient Greek is not that far from learning regular modern Greek. Perhaps it is easier. For others learning ancient Greek is one step closer to learning modern Greek, because surely it gets easier. As a Histrorian and a Greek native speaker, I have the experiance and the know-how to introduce you to this new world with the right texts and show you the uniquiness and richness of a language spoken for the last 3000 years.
In order to understand ancient Greek it is necessary to familiarize yourself with and learn specific grammatical and syntactic rules, as is the case with other languages of the world. Once you learn the basics, you won't want to stop.
The variety and quantity of texts are a reliable ally that will help us understand the special phenomena of the language and do the necessary practice. It is very important at the end of the lessons to constantly learn and assimilate new words.
Therefore, once we have established the basic rules, we will move on to the text. The original text is the basis for learning ancient Greek. Through it we will learn new words, we will practice grammar and syntax and in the end, we will translate it. We will gradually move on to increasingly difficult texts. The content and subject of the texts, as well as the author is the student's choice, depending on his liking.
The speed of the lesson will depend on factors such as the progress made by the student, the time available to devote to reading, the frequency and time of lessons and of course his ability to assimilate what is taught. The student will be given rich material for practice and understanding, as well as an anthology of texts, with selected sources of ancient Greek authors.

Γεια σας! Ονομάζομαι Δημήτρης Χαραλαμπίδης και είμαι αριστούχος απόφοιτος του τμήματος Ιστορίας και Αρχαιολογίας της Φιλοσοφικής σχολής του Αριστοτελείου πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης. Μένω στη Θεσσαλονίκη, από όπου και κατάγομαι. Αγαπώ τη διδασκαλία, είτε πρόκειται για Ελληνικά, ιστορία, φιλοσοφία ή οποιοδήποτε άλλο τομέα των κλασικών σπουδών. Πιστεύω βαθιά στη σημασία των Ανθρωπιστικών επιστημών στο σύγχρονο κόσμο και προσπαθώ να εκφράσω και να μεταδώσω την αγάπη και το σεβασμό μου για το αντικείμενο μέσω της διδασκαλίας και των μαθημάτων που παραδίδω.
Στον ελεύθερό μου χρόνο, ασχολούμαι με το διάβασμα, τον αθλητισμό, ενώ μου αρέσει να ταξιδεύω και να μαθαίνω καθημερινά κάτι καινούριο.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) in History and Archaeology, of the school of philosophy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2020-2024), where I graduated with honours (8,77/10).
Currently I am studying for my Master's degree (MA) in Historical Research (2024-).
I also hold a Certificate of Proficiency (ECPE) in English (C2)
and an A2 State Certificate of Proficiency in German.
For the last 3 years, I deliverd courses of: Modern and Ancient Greek, History, Philosophy, Sociology and Latin.
My students were mostly undergraduate students, some of them being from abroad without any knowledge of Greek.
I also offered lessons to Secondary school students of all levels.
The classes took place in Thessaloniki, except from the online courses.
